If you're reading this, you can make lifestyle changes, starting today.

Anyone, including children (the scariest of all), can develop heart disease. It occurs when a substance called plaque builds up in your arteries. When this happens, your arteries can narrow over time, reducing blood flow to the heart.

Risk factors:

- Smoking

- Unhealthy diet

- Not exercising enough - or at all

- High cholesterol

- High blood pressure

- Diabetes

While these are risk factors, anyone can develop heart disease, anyone. Many of the heart attacks that cause death in the United States was the person’s very first heart attack.
